Megan’s Week in Geek – masks, music, and questionable tweets!

CreepyJokerFaceI this week in geek, i’ve been seeing more and more of this dude though the photos were taken months ago. I haven’t been shy about my love of Batman and my frustrations with new 52 – but some of the cosplays that have come of it this season have blown my mind. Cinema Makeup School has been blowing my mind with the Joker and his cut off face. I expect to see some super creepy Halloween photos from these guys too!

Speaking of new 52 – this week saw the release of Arkham War. I haven’t been super excited by any particular story since the end of Death of the family, but Arkham War has the promise of a good tale! Bane is back in Gotham, and while I feel like this comic was a slow start, the chaos of mountains of villains has so much promise!

Comic related but not a specific book, have you guys seen this really shitty questionable move made by those running the NYCC, they took the twitter names associated with badge registration, and started tweeting from attendees accounts without their permissionMashable reports:

“Attendees were then invited to connect their social-media accounts to their badge, although it wasn’t explicitly stated that NYCC could post to Facebook or Twitter on their behalf. As people checked in to the convention on Thursday, many published tweets looked authentic (and were written in conversational language), but were not written by attendees.”

Are you kidding me NYCC?  What 55+ yr old marketing person decided that would be a good idea? Talk about a move that isn’t going unnoticed and is totally NOT ACCEPTABLE by anyone guys.

And now for something completely different! I have a strange love of steampunk in that I like to see it and admire it, but like hell if AccousticIphoneSpeakerI can actually complete a project myself (as the Dorkadia staff can attest to the steamer trunk that has taken up part of our office for the past 3 years waiting to be made into a bar). My latest obsession for something I SUPER don’t need, is an accoustic speaker for my iphone. There are may versions of these out there, but to combine my love of etsy and the hope that this is actually just some dude making awesome stuff out of his house, I’m now drooling over this incredibly awesome, beautiful, and completely unnecessary dock that uses a “Rare wood vintage antique” gramophone. Logic says I don’t need it. And yet…. my brain wants me to just shove my credit card into my DVD slot until this thing just magically pops off my screen and into my office! Added bonus, all orders are 20% off right now – just to reduce my willpower!

That’s all for me this week. Something you think I missed? Let me know!
